Colin Hamilton entered BC construction from the ground up — hands-on framing, drywall, and finishing work across Metro Vancouver's growing residential and commercial market. Learning every trade from the tools up before moving into project management and eventually general contracting. 15 Years as a Licensed GC & TI Specialist

For fifteen years, Colin operated as a licensed general contractor specializing in tenant improvement work across Metro Vancouver. Office fit-outs in downtown Vancouver, retail builds in Surrey and Burnaby, medical and dental TI work across the Lower Mainland. Managing full scopes — from demolition through framing, drywall, millwork, MEP coordination, and occupancy — gave Colin a complete picture of how buildings actually get built and what makes a subcontractor genuinely valuable to a GC. He's been on every side of the table: owner, GC, and trades contractor. That perspective is rare, and it shows in how SteelStud.ca operates.

Fifteen years ago, Colin founded SteelStud.ca with a deliberate focus: be the best steel stud framing and drywall contractor in the Lower Mainland, not a generalist trying to do everything. The GC background meant he understood exactly what GCs, developers, and owners need from a framing subcontractor — fast mobilization, accurate estimates, clean documentation, and work that passes inspection first time.
